Dedication of Renovated ICU Waiting Area

Remodeled space enhances patient and visitor satisfaction

Oak Park, IL (July 31, 2012) — Rush Oak Park Hospital is excited to announce the reopening and dedication of the renovated waiting area for families and visitors of patients on the Intensive Care Unit. An open house and dedication will begin at 1:30 p.m., Friday, Aug. 3.

Thanks to the generous donations of physicians, vendors and hospital system leaders, Rush Oak Park Hospitalís 2012 Medical Staff Gala in March raised nearly $75,000 for the remodeling of the waiting area. Original stained glass windows and refinished woodwork combine with several upgrades to enhance the space and create a more comfortable and soothing setting designed to increase the satisfaction of families and visitors whose loved ones are in critical condition.

Enhancements include all new furniture, including reclining armchairs and a sleeper sofa; soft, indirect lighting, including new lamps and fixtures; a computer station and desk with an online resource library; a flat screen TV; a kitchen area with new cabinetry and a sink; and additional cosmetic changes, including new carpeting and wall paper.

Vice President of Administrative Services James Kaese said construction began Tuesday, July 10. The Chicago-based Proteus Group, which was responsible for last yearís design and remodeling of the Same-Day Surgery Unit, completed the design and renovation of the waiting area.
