Many patients require 24-hour attention in order to make a complete recovery from illness or surgery. RUSH Oak Park Hospital's Skilled Care Unit provides the ideal environment for patients whose conditions have stabilized, but who still need an extra measure of care.
The Skilled Care Unit offers a complete personalized program. Planned by a registered nurse, the patient, and the family, the program is designed to fulfill the social, psychological, spiritual, medical, and dietary needs of the recovering patient.
The Skilled Care Unit is staffed by physicians, nurses, and specialists in physical, occupational, and speech therapies. A recreational therapist directs a regular program of activities for patients. Social services personnel are available to assist families with long-term plans.
The services provided here cover every aspect of the patient's well being. The unit, roomy at 17,000 square feet, also offers patients a full range of rehabilitative and diagnostic services. Any necessary tests can be administered immediately. Patients also have 24-hour access to emergency services from a hospital-based physician. A dentist and a podiatrist are available and the services of a barber or hairstylist can be arranged.
In addition to providing care for private pay patients covered by traditional health insurance (or relying on their own financial resources), the Skilled Care Unit may also be an option for qualified Medicare recipients. While Medicare and other insurance certifications are not automatic, we are happy to expedite the qualifications of eligible patients. Call a referral coordinator at 708-660-3621 to determine eligibility.
The Skilled Care Unit at RUSH Oak Park Hospital has been approved by Medicare, licensed by the Illinois Department of Public Health and accredited by the Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations.
