Volunteers at Rush Oak Park Hospital play an integral role in the day-to-day operation of the hospital by supporting staff, assisting patients and visitors, and serving as goodwill ambassadors to the community. Rush Oak Park Hospital volunteers include the following:

Volunteers are used in many areas, including:
- Environmental services
- Spiritual care
- Employee health
- Information desks
- Human resources
- Emergency Department
- Outpatient surgery
- Nursing administration
- Volunteer office
- Physician offices
- Medical staff services
- Print shop
Placement is based on personal interests, availability, general health, interpersonal and communication skills, background and experience, as well as specific department needs.
The majority of adult (18 years and older) volunteer positions require a long-term time commitment of at least six months to one year, with a minimum of one four-hour shift per week. Short-term seasonal and/or project-based volunteer positions are available periodically to qualified applicants. High School student volunteer positions are only available during the summer months.
