Free mammograms in October for women in Oak Park, surrounding communities
Mammograms don’t prevent cancer, but they can save lives by finding breast cancer as early as possible. Experts at Rush recommend screening mammograms every year, beginning at age 40 for women who are not high-risk and earlier for those considered high-risk. Women who live in Oak Park, River Forest or Proviso Township can receive a mammogram for no cost at Rush Oak Park Hospital through October. Screenings must be performed by Oct. 31, 2016. Funds for the screenings are provided by a private grant. Proof of residence, including voter registration, utility bill or personal check will be requested at the time of your visit. For more information or to register, please call (708) 660-MAMO (6266).

In addition to the Breast Imaging Center, Rush Oak Park Hospital works closely with Rush University Medical Center to deliver a full range of breast cancer treatment services to the community. The Rush Radiation Center at ROPH is modeled after the Rush radiation oncology program, with the same physicians, the same external beam radiation technologies and the same treatment processes. Rush colleagues review each patient’s treatment plan, and patients can transfer seamlessly between the two facilities. In addition, ROPH has a team of renowned hematology-oncology physicians – including breast cancer specialists – from Rush who have offices and an infusion center for chemotherapy next to the hospital.
Our clinical partnership with Rush University Medical Center also means our patients have seamless access to all the advanced subspecialty services of a renowned teaching and research hospital. That includes breast reconstruction surgery, genetic testing and counseling, and cancer therapies available only through clinical trials. Our shared physicians, technologies, communications and electronic medical record system make it easy for ROPH patients to obtain any special services they may need at the Medical Center – while continuing their treatment plan close to home.
