Specialists in the Rush Stroke Program at Rush Oak Park Hospital provide the following services:

  • Primary acute care for stroke and related conditions using diagnostic and treatment tools that include these procedures and imaging tests:
    • Carotid endarterectomy
    • Carotid stent placement
    • Carotid ultrasound
    • CT angiogram
    • CT scan
    • Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI)
    • Thrombolysis
    • Tissue plasminogen activator (tPA)
  • Prevention of stroke or stroke recurrence through the following:
    • Carotid endarterectomy
    • Carotid stent placement
    • Medical management
    • Neurosurgical options, in collaboration with the Rush Center for Neuroendovascular Surgery
    • Tools and education for modifying your lifestyle to prevent a stroke
  • Follow-up care for patients coping with the aftermath of a stroke, including one or more of the following, as needed:
    • Occupational therapy
    • Physical therapy
    • Speech therapy
