Breast Imagery Center Programs & Services

  • Breast cancer surgery: If surgery is recommended, the care team at Rush Oak Park Hospital (ROPH) will talk with patient and family about surgical options and what risks and potential complications are involved.
  • BRCA and other genetic risk assessment: BRCA testing at ROPH can help determine a person’s risk for developing breast or ovarian cancer. Other genetic cancer risks also can be assessed at ROPH.
  • Breast reconstruction: Breast reconstruction can be performed at Rush University Medical Center by renowned surgeons who lead their field.
  • Chemotherapy: Rush Oak Park Hospital has a team of renowned hematology- oncology and other cancer specialists from Rush who have offices and an infusion (chemotherapy) center next to the hospital.
  • Lymphedema care: Lymphedema refers to a build-up of fluids in soft body tissues, often the arm or leg, that may occur after cancer treatment or surgery. It may be managed with a combination of exercise, compression, wrapping, massage and other therapies available through Rush.
  • Mammotome® breast biopsy unit: The Mammotome® Biopsy System at Rush can help doctors make a highly accurate diagnosis of breast abnormalities without the need for open biopsy surgery.
  • Mastectomy and lumpectomy: Mastectomy is surgical removal of all or a portion of a woman’s breast to treat or prevent breast cancer. With lumpectomy, only the breast tumor is removed. Both surgeries are available at ROPH and Rush.
  • Radiation therapy: Rush Radiation Therapy Center at ROPH replicates core components of the renowned radiation oncology program at Rush University Medical Center. The result is highly sophisticated, outpatient cancer care – within the comfort and convenience of a community hospital.
  • Spiritual counseling: Rush Oak Park Hospital’s spiritual counseling staff is available to listen, talk, pray or simply offer a supportive presence. The hospital’s chapel is open around the clock.
  • Support groups: We can refer you to local education and support groups focusing on breast cancer.
  • Wigs and breast prosthetic referral: We can connect you to sources for wigs, hairpieces, adaptive clothing and prosthetics.
