ROPH Receives Press Ganey Awards for Excellence

Nov. 7, 2016 - (Oak Park, Ill.) Rush Oak Park Hospital is the recipient of the Pinnacle of Excellence Award and the Guardian of Excellence Award for Quality by Press Ganey Associates, Inc., the nation’s leading provider for patient experience measurement.
Considered one of the most coveted awards in the health care industry, the Pinnacle of Excellence Award recognizes a hospital that has maintained consistently high levels of excellence over two years in clinical quality performance. Rush Oak Park Hospital was measured based on performances in 2014 and 2015.

The Guardian of Excellence Award is based on quarterly data from May 2015 through April 2016 in which the hospital sustained performance in the top five percent for clinical quality excellence.

The overall composite score for both awards consists of the following clinical measures:

• Heart Failure
• Immunization
• Pneumonia
• Surgical Infection Prevention
• Venous Thromboembolism

Press Ganey currently partners with more than 10,000 health care facilities - including over 40 percent of U.S. hospitals - to measure and improve the quality of their care. The company's databases are the largest in the industry, and allow facilities nationwide to benchmark their results against peer organizations.

“It’s an honor to receive these distinguished awards from Press Ganey,” said President and CEO of Rush Oak Park Hospital Bruce Elegant. “It’s a certifiable indicator of the exceptional care we provide for our community.”

According to Cynthia Fisch, RN, director of quality management at Rush Oak Park Hospital, receiving these prestigious awards represents the quality of work that goes into the patient experience at the hospital and the dedication of the quality management team.

“Our priority is to provide high-quality services to our patients in a comfortable and safe setting,” said Fisch. “We are proud to be recognized as a hospital leading the way in quality performance.”

The Press Ganey awards come on the heels of both Rush Oak Park Hospital and Rush University Medical Center receiving four stars in a new quality rating system for hospitals nationwide from the federal Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS). Both hospitals also recently received an “A” grade for patient safety from The Leapfrog Group, a nonprofit organization that collects and reports hospital performance.
