Diversity and Inclusion

CEO’s statement on equal opportunity, diversity and inclusion

For more than a century, Rush Oak Park Hospital has been rooted in a diverse and inclusive community. With our commitment to equal opportunity and diversity in employment as well as our high standards in the delivery of health care to our patients, we have strived to preserve and further the same values of the community we serve.

We believe that differences in age, race, gender, gender identity, nationality, sexual orientation, physical ability, and background allow us to provide exceptional and compassionate health care. It’s one of the reasons the hospital was recognized as a leader in LGBTQ health care equality by the Human Rights Campaign Foundation, the educational arm of the country’s largest lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and questioning (LGBTQ) civil rights organization. Rush Oak Park Hospital is one of only a few such designated hospitals in the nation.

We believe that organizational cultures should always be evolving, and it’s no different at Rush Oak Park Hospital. We not only hold the standards of honesty, fairness, and integrity to a high degree for our employees, but those of our associates and venders as well.

In line with the policy of our partner, Rush University Medical Center, discrimination or harassment against any member of the Rush community (i.e., employee, faculty, house staff, student or patient) because of race, color, gender, gender identity and/or expression, sexual orientation, religion, national origin, ancestry, age, marital or parental status, or disability, as defined by Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973 and the Americans with Disabilities Act, or any other category protected by federal or state law, is prohibited and will not be tolerated.

Nor will any person for those reasons be excluded from the participation in or denied the benefits of any program or activity within Rush. You may call the Rush Hotline to register a complaint at (877) RUSH-009 or visit www.Rush.ethicspoint.com.

With these benchmarks in place, we’re committed to maintaining a diverse and inclusive culture at Rush Oak Park Hospital.
